William Penn Primary Receives Award

7th February 2019

William Penn Primary School in West Sussex has won a Peaceful Project Award for their wonderful restorative practice.

This is a Quaker Foundation school - the only State primary school that has a Quaker foundation. It's a small village school in Coolham, West Sussex. Restorative practice (RP) was introduced to further enhance the school's existing and effective approach to developing and maintaining peaceful relationships.

The whole staff team was trained in RP and the older pupils undertook peer mediation training. The children are able to resolve differences in a very positive and peaceful way.  The RP supports and linksinto their Quakers Values and with their adoption of the UN Rights Respecting Schools programme. The HT and Governors provide inspirational leadership.
